October/November 2019 marks the very first Debut Review Challenge! Debut Kidlit creators benefit because reviews help their books gain exposure. Readers benefit by seeing honest feedback while making book purchases. YOU, the reviewers, benefit by earning a chance to win great prizes for every FIVE reviews you complete. Everybody wins!

But for some people, writing a review seems daunting: What do you say? How do you say it? Why does your opinion matter?

Here are some general guidelines for writing online book reviews:
- What is the story about? Summarize the book in 1-2 sentences. Try not to spoil the ending!
- Did you enjoy the book? Share your opinion. Be honest. Give specific examples.
- Who would love this book? Connect the book to its potential audience.
Reviews are not book reports. Keep them brief and to the point. By sharing your honest opinion, you are helping future readers discover books that they will enjoy.
Thank you for joining the #DebutReviewChallenge! Follow the hashtag on social media and share Kidlit debuts you love. Post excerpts from your reviews and tag the author/illustrator.
